50th Reunion Update: Preparation of the Class Book

Dear Yale 1964 Classmate:

We write with an update on our 50th reunion plans for May 29 - June 1, 2014. The Class of 1963 had their 50th in June, with an attendance rate of 53% totaling 439 men of whom many were attending their first Yale reunion. Everyone agreed that the reunion and the Class Book that was published and sent before the reunion were the memories of a lifetime. Our special thanks go to the 45 of us in '64 who have already submitted essays for our own Class Book, and to a number of others who have logged onto our website to update their basic personnel data, indicating that they will return to submit their essays before Sept.15.

The Class Book will be fascinating reading, but only in direct proportion to the percent of us who contribute material to it. For those of you who have not yet done so, please help the process along by going online — very soon — to establish your presence in the book and to submit an essay, preferably with a picture as well.

The procedure for entering information for the Class Book was provided, along with your personal Yale ID number, in Larry Crutcher's letter to you of May 10, 2013. If you don't have that letter, see the instructions below regarding how to update your information online. The procedure is easy, fast, and fun. Remember, just as you are curious about what classmates have been up to for five decades, they are curious about you. Please participate!

Are you planning to attend the reunion? Registration material will be sent out later in the year. Meanwhile, you will likely be called by a member of Tony Lee's attendance committee, seeking an early indication of your interest. The program will be enjoyable, forward-looking, and well worth your time, not to mention the excitement of seeing old friends. Be sure to put the dates on your calendar, now.

As mentioned above, it is very easy to add and update your Class Book information. First, review your copy of Larry Crutcher's letter or download a copy, Larry's letter includes your personal Yale ID number, which also appears on the mailing label of your copy of the Yale Alumni Magazine. However, if you can't find your ID number you can have it emailed to you, as described in the following instructions for updating your Class Book information.

  1. Browse to the Class of 1964 website.
  2. Click on the link at the top labeled "Update your profile and submit your essay."
  3. Click "Login."
  4. Click "Sign up."
  5. Click "I can't find my ID number. Email it to me."
  6. Once you have your ID number, repeat steps 1-4, then click "Take me to the sign-up. I already know my ID number."
  7. Enter your personal information, select a username and password, then activate your account.
  8. Once your account is activated, you can repeat steps 1-3 at any time and log in with your username/password to edit your information and submit your essay.

One last thing ... While you're on our Class Website check out the September/October edition of Class Notes as well as Class News, Visual Arts, Publications, and other interesting pages.

If you have questions or comments, you can reply to this email. Your reply will go to Larry Crutcher, our Class Book editor.

Thanks for your participation in the creation of our Class Book, and we hope to see you at the reunion next year!

Respectfully,

Larry Crutcher, Class Book Editor
on behalf of Reunion Tri-Chairs Chris Getman, Waldo Johnston, and Pete Putzel
