Services for Alan Michael Greene, 61, of Bloomfield will be at 11 a.m. today in Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Rd., Livingston.

Mr. Greene, who died Wednesday in University Hospital, Newark, was a senior district executive with the North Jersey Council of the Boy Scouts of America in Oakland.

He earned a bachelor's degree in English from Yale University in 1964, and was a member of the university's fencing team.

Mr. Greene was a member of the Ironbound Rotary Club in Newark.

Born in Brooklyn, he lived in New York City before moving to Bloomfield 30 years ago.

Surviving is a sister, Roberta Ehre.

Today, June 4, would be Alan's birthday. Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Bloomfield, NJ, where he was for 35 years an executive with the Boy Scouts. He coordinated mentoring programs for underprivileged scouts and was very involved in service to the Portuguese immigrant community in Newark. A man of many interests, he was an archery instructor, a collector of military memorabilia, and a reader and collector of books. He is survived by a sister.
