Today, June 4, would be Alan's birthday. Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Bloomfield, NJ, where he was for 35 years an executive with the Boy Scouts. He coordinated mentoring programs for underprivileged scouts and was very involved in service to the Portuguese immigrant community in Newark. A man of many interests, he was an archery instructor, a collector of military memorabilia, and a reader and collector of books. He is survived by a sister.
