Yale ’64 Authors Book Club
March 24, 2021
Classmates:
As announced by Tony Lavely in the online Class Notes last week, we are inviting you to the pilot event of the “Class of 1964 Book Club.” This Zoom event will occur on May 27, 2021, 4:30pm EDT (1:30pm PDT).
The book is Founding Sheriff by Edward Massey, available on Amazon and other online bookstores.
Over the course of ninety minutes, we’ll be flexible and follow the flow but generally attempt to discuss the story, the story behind the story, and the process of writing itself.
No one will be checking at the door to see if you bought or read the book, but you will participate more and get a lot more out of participating if you read the book beforehand.
The cooper made sheriff in a high mountain settlement faces the county’s first murder when the daughter of a fine ranching family is killed by her husband. Sheriff Simms tracks him down on Bonanza Flat above the wide-open silver mining town of Park City. Civilization brings justice at a glacial pace while the frontier delivers vigilantes, Indian troubles, even a lynching in a hell-on-wheels railroad town. Will her mother ever secure justice?
Jan Truebner will moderate from the beginning, lead the discussion of the story behind the story, and carry us through questions and talk of writing — mine and all classmates’. All spouses are invited and welcome to attend with or without classmates.
Registration is required. Register for the meeting by clicking on the following link:

You will receive a confirmation email with a link to the meeting. That link will be unique to you. On May 27, you will receive the meeting link again. You will not have to hunt for it.
Because of mini-reunions and other presentations, our next Book Club will be in the second quarter of 2022. Let me know which books by classmates you’d like to see included.
Cheers,
Edward Massey
