“After the rain, it’s time to walk the field again”
October 27, 2021
Classmates and friends:
I took this line from a poem by a Yale-educated poet, Jared Carter ‘61. It resonated in my recent life experience.
Across the field, but what is hidden here
requires a different view — the glance of one
not looking straight ahead, who in the clear
light of the morning sun
Simply keeps wandering across the rows,
letting his own perspective change.
After the rain, perhaps, something will show,
glittering and strange.
As I returned to my duties as Class Secretary, I added with pleasure 25 new News articles about the remarkable achievements and recent experiences of classmates. I hope you will read and enjoy them. Next month I will be distributing the January-February issue of Class Notes, the first issue of the new year. In the meantime, enjoy the holiday season!
Please remember Evan Lanman ’64 who died in Warren PA on May 13, 2021. Evan lived in Saybrook College and majored in History. He also graduated from the Yale School of Architecture. His obituary may be seen here.
Remember to save the date of January 12 for the second Yale 1964 Authors Book Club featuring Timothy Breen and his book, The Will of the People: The Revolutionary Birth of America.
Cheers,
Tony Lavely
