Reminder! Syd Lea coming Thursday
Registration link below
July 12, 2022
Classmates:
A simple reminder in the midst of this glorious summer for those already registered for our July 14 Yale ’64 Authors Book Club. That’s this Thursday, day after tomorrow. If you are not already registered, you can still do so. And should! You'll find the registration link below.
The Book Club will feature classmate Sydney Lea (Syd as we knew him), who will discuss his journey to poetry and read from his extremely meaningful book of poetry, titled Here. Meaningful to us, at this age, right now. Pete Putzel ’64 will lead the discussion.
In our previous e-mail, we cited Syd’s pedigree as an academic, poet, and man of letters. Here, we simply want to remind you how gratifying this Book Club experience will be. Syd will speak briefly about his pivot from a conventional academic career to the life of a poet. He will then read about ten poems and discuss what gave rise to the poems collected in Here. To facilitate the group discussion, we urged you to purchase and read Here. For our deeper experience of the poems (and for those who haven’t yet bought the book), Tony Lavely will provide a split-screen text of each poem when read.
The Zoom meeting will be on July 14, 2022, at 4:00pm EDT (1:00pm PDT). Registration is required. If you haven't already registered, click the following link:

You’ll receive an immediate confirmation email with a link to the meeting. That link will be unique to you. On the day before the event you’ll be sent the link again, as a reminder and to ensure that you won’t have to hunt for it.
Remember: July 14 at 4:00pm EDT (1:00pm PDT). I look forward to seeing you.
Cheers,
Edward Massey
