Jethro will discuss his book Everything is Jake, about a strange plea deal in a Manhattan federal court, a missing FBI agent, and an encounter with someone described as “the oddest of the 40-odd presidents of the United States.” Jethro will also discuss what he’s learned over the years about the art of writing.

Postscript: Here's a description of the event, excerpted from my May 15 email that you received.

In addition to discussing his book Everything is Jake, Jethro will discuss what he’s learned about the art of writing, differences in the conditions under which he’s done it, blogging vs. print, and working simultaneously on multiple projects. Plenty of time will be allocated to questions and discussion.

In addition to his day jobs in law practice, journalism, and law teaching, Jethro has had a separate writing career, beginning with his first book, published in 1966 while a third-year law student. Since then, some thirty of his books have been published by many of the major New York trade publishers on topics ranging from constitutional law to CB radio. In 2018, taking a breather from research for a project tentatively titled “Taking Offense,” about the national obsession we have all been experiencing, he sat down to write a detective novel, never imagining it would take fifteen revisions spread over forty months and a whole new way of thinking. Titled Everything Is Jake, it’s about a strange plea deal in a Manhattan federal court, a missing FBI agent, and an encounter with someone described as “the oddest of the 40-odd presidents of the United States.” Publishers Weekly called it “lively” and said its “witty prose complements the clever plotting.” It’s available on Amazon, on the publisher’s website, and at other online sellers.

Our classmate Larry Crutcher ’64 will moderate the conversation.
