Dave Elliott's death on September 1, 2018 was reported by his widow, Virginia P. Miller, writing from Lunenberg, Nova Scotia on January 7, 2019 as follows:

David Henry Elliott died at his home in Martins Brook, Nova Scotia, on September 1, 2018. After receiving a Ph.D. in Sociology and Statistics from Pittsburgh in 1968, Dave spent his entire career at Dalhousie University in Halifax, in the process traveling extensively around the world. Dave lived life his way.

There were no formal obituaries. Dave is gone but will be long remembered by the numerous friends and acquaintances who attended a Dave-sponsored Final Social Event.

A death notice read as follows:

David Henry Elliott, of Martins Brook, Lunenburg County, passed away suddenly at home on September 1st 2018. There will not be a visitation nor memorial service. Cremation has taken place and his wish was for his ashes to be scattered at sea. Requested charities for memorial donations are SHAID Tree Animal Shelter and the Nature Conservancy of Canada (Nova Scotia).
