Fran was a one in a million. Aside from being brilliant, he had the most impressive memory I have ever encountered. I always looked forward to his comments on a variety of subjects.

I remember one time when I was restoring an automobile and I needed to go to an automobile parts store to pick up something that I needed. Fran went with me (he enjoyed tinkering with cars). The person at the store wanted to know the part number. I did not have a clue but Fran pulled it out of thin air. Neither of us had anticipated that the number would be needed. Fran had looked at it and it went into the "memory file" for future use.

To his parents he was the prince. His family lived in Norwalk, CT. Fran could run home easily from Yale for a weekend. Like many a  student living near "Mom," he brought home his laundry. Unlike many such students, his mother ironed his underwear. Only a mother!!! He will be missed by all who knew him.
