1964 Class Council hosts the Director of a Yale Climate Program
February 19, 2022
At its annual Class Council meeting on February 19, 2022, the Council met via Zoom with Anthony Leiserowitz Ph.D., Director of the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication, the Yale Center for Environmental Communication, and a Senior Research Scientist at the Yale School of the Environment. He is an expert on public environmental beliefs, attitudes, policy preferences, and behavior, as well as the psychological, cultural, and political factors that influence them. The session was attended by 31 of 36 members of the ’64 Class Council.
Recently, Leiserowitz was ranked as the second-most influential climate scientist in the world.
Tony Leiserowitz was introduced to the Council by Tony Lee, himself an activist in climate change.
Among other things, Leiserowitz expressed his appreciation to Gus Speth for his appointment in 2007 to the faculty of the Yale School of the Environment (then known as the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies). At that time, Gus was Dean of the School.
After the meeting, Tony Leiserowitz emailed: “Thanks again for the invitation and to hear the Council has renewed support for URI — great news! Hope to see you on campus!”
You can watch Leiserowitz’s informative presentation, followed by Q&A, in the following 52-minute video.
