The Southwick Memorial Lecture Weekend is November 1-3, 2018. Peter Jokl '64, Professor Emeritus, Yale Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, announced this event is expanding from the traditional Friday morning lecture into a full weekend affair.
The event will begin on Thursday night, November 1, with dinner at Saybrook College to welcome the 2018 Southwick Lecturer, James Duderstadt, Yale College ’64, University Professor of Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan and President Emeritus of the University of Michigan.
Professor Duderstadt’s Friday morning lecture will address the moral and academic conflicts produced by the business of major college sports, a topic about which he has written and spoken extensively.
A lunch for all will be held at Mory’s on Friday, and on Saturday, November 3, there will be a Yale Orthopaedic Association tailgate for the Yale-Brown football game.
