Len Gaffga ’64 publishes new book about his Navy career

Lieutenant Commander Leonard H. Gaffga USNR (Ret) has published a fascinating memoir, Following on Seas of Glory, recounting his family's multi-generational maritime background and accomplishments, from his grandfather's 1901 invention and patent of a marine engine through his son's current uniformed service.
This second-generation Navy serviceman recounts completing various interesting assignments, including a circumnavigation of the world by ship, through the South China Sea, the Indian Ocean to Cape Town, South Africa, and finally traveling home across the Atlantic Ocean. Seas of Glory is an intriguing combination of military history and travelogue that will interest a wide audience of readers.
Leonard H. Gaffga is a 1964 graduate of Yale University with an MBA in international business from the Wharton School. He joined the Navy in 1964, serving on active duty until 1968. During this time he attended Naval Justice School and was the personnel and legal officer at a small communications station on the island of Guam during the 1960s. He also served two years on the aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CVA-42) including a tour of duty off the coast of North Vietnam working in the Combat Information Center (CIC) tracking live enemy contacts.
After completing his stint of active duty, Lieutenant Commander Gaffga served in the Naval Reserve for 21 years and retired in October 1987. He resides in Sun City with his wife Cathy, and is active in the Sun City Veterans Club.
