Tony Lavely ’64 attends School of Forestry event in Atlanta
February 5, 2020
Tony Lavely wrote: I recently attended an event at Georgia Tech (less than 2 miles from my home) that was sponsored by the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. It took place in a stunning new building on the Georgia Tech campus — the Kendeda Building — that reminded me of Kroon Hall in both its environmental features and architectural beauty.
Dean Indy Burke from F&ES introduced a distinguished panel including three Yalies. One was my neighbor, Kim Cobb ’96. Their focus was a new book, A Better Planet: 40 Ideas for a Sustainable Future. It was gratifying to see the grass-roots passion expressed by the audience too.
In my comments that evening, and on a Facebook post the next day, I reminded people of the environmental legacy at Yale epitomized by Gus Speth and Rick Kroon.
