Tony Lavely ’64 attends Yale’s New Student Reception in Atlanta

Tony Lavely attended an Alumni Schools Committee (ASC) reception in Atlanta for the 52 newly admitted students (and their parents) from Georgia who will join the Class of 2026.

There were 1,018 applicants from the Atlanta area, so the admission rate was 5.1% (slightly better than Yale’s overall admission rate of 4.5%). One of the seven applicants that Tony interviewed via Zoom was admitted; she was the only high-school student in Georgia to have a perfect score on the ACT test (public information).

There are other members of the Class of 1964 who serve on their local ASC committees. What was your interviewing experience like this year? Tony says there’s nothing like meeting with talented high-school seniors, even via Zoom, to get an appreciation for the next generation of Yale students.
