Classic Whiffenpoofs sing in Washington DC
Jon McBride has announced that the Classic Whiffenpoofs will sing in metro Washington, D.C. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, October 22-24, 2015. The Classic Whiffenpoofs are a group of former Whiffenpoofs from the Classes of 1962-1966.
Earlier, John Evans reported that the group performed several concerts in the Philadelphia area in October 2014 at the Merion Cricket Club, the Philadelphia Country Club, and the Church of the Redeemer in Bryn Mawr (a fund-raiser for fighting Aids in Africa).
The group had formerly sung at the Wiano Club in Osterville MA, and in a benefit concert at St Christopher's Episcopal Church in Chatham MA, also for an Africa-related outreach, in September of 2013. The Classic Whiffs had their original performances as part of the Essex Community Concert Series in Essex NY, on the left bank of Lake Champlain, in the summers of 2011 and 2012.
A quartet of the Classics (Evans '64, McBride '64, Rossiter '64, and Sawyer '63) also sang at the wedding of Jon McBride's son, Webster '99, to Nicole Bruno in New York City on November 1, 2014. According to Evans, "This was the seventh wedding of one of our collective offspring at which our 'Whiff Wedding Quartet' has sung over the years."
