In Memoriam
Sandy Albom
Remembrance of Sandy Albom at our 40th Reunion
by Steve Norman '64
Sandy Albom was a resident of Silliman College.
He grew up here in New Haven and prepared for Yale at the Tora Vordaath
Seminary in Brooklyn, New York.
I remember him as a good-natured fellow. He was a middle lineman on the
Silliman football team. He was sturdily built and enough of a wide-body
to be tough to move aside. I also remember smoke-filled, late-night card
games in Silliman in which Sandy was one of last to fold.
After a 5-year interval following Yale College, Sandy graduated from the
University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1972 and practiced law in
Connecticut, most recently in a small firm in Norwalk.
Unfortunately, not much is known of Sandy's recent years as both his
Silliman roommates, Bill Bertusi and Mike Shapiro, have pre-deceased
him.
He leaves no surviving spouse or children.
However, we pay tribute to his memory as one of our own and reflect on
the fact that for a time at least, we walked the same path.
