Joel Levitch, 74, was a broadcasting executive

Joel Levitch, 74, a Kansas City native and long-time New Yorker, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, in Fort Lauderdale. The family had a private ceremony.

Joel was born Oct. 5, 1942, to David and Frances (Brand). After graduating from Pembroke Country Day School (Kansas City) and Yale he became an award-winning documentarian and a pioneer in Jewish TV broadcasting and programming.

In addition to founding National Jewish Television, which has provided Jewish cultural and religious programming for more than 35 years, he oversaw several media projects involving Holocaust survivors.

Joel is survived by loving family and friends.
