Purpose

This forum was created shortly before our 50th Reunion to encourage online conversations among classmates and spouses or partners about significant current issues, and to renew — or create new — relationships among classmates. After our reunion, Sound Off! activity lapsed, but in December 2015, in view of the Yale campus unrest at the time, the forum was rejuvenated.

Feel free to post your own views or reply to the views of others — on any topic — choosing an appropriate category and subcategory. If you're commenting on campus issues, use the category “Society” and the subcategory “Campus Issues.” To learn more about the Yale campus unrest, you might want to visit this web page.

We came of age in the turbulent '60s, surrounded by change, and developed strong opinions on most issues of the time. Most of us still have at least one hot-button issue. This is your opportunity to share your views.

Rules

To have an article or reply posted, please follow these rules:

  • Civil discourse is required — be "hard on the issues, soft on the people"
  • No personal attacks or vulgarity
  • No more than 500 words

If your submission does not comply with these rules, it will be returned to you for rework.

Structure

To allow topics of interest to be more easily located, the following hierarchical structure of categories and subcategories has been established. This hierarchy will be expanded, contracted, or modified as necessary to accommodate the range of articles submitted.
